Falling in love with Lush

I'll be the first to say my attention span, or lack there of, can use a little beefing up. Anything that is bland and boring will lose my focus in 3.5 seconds flat. HOWEVER, the point of this post was not about me, but about something far more superior- bath time or more specifically Lush Bath Bombs. Almost every "zen" person I know, the kind of person I aspire to be, is a lover and advocate for taking a nice hot bath to unwind. I tried desperately to become a bath lover as well, but it just didn't work out. Plain baths lacked pizzazz to keep me interested and bubble baths lost their fun once the suds began to dwindle, and so for years I ignorantly wrote off baths as being something I can enjoy. Then I walked inside a Lush Cosmetics store and bought myself a Bath Bomb; after that nothing was the same.

For anyone who doesn't know, Lush is fresh , handmade cosmetics company (kind of like the Whole Foods of the beauty world). Some of their products they are best known for are their Bath Bombs, fizzling scented (and sometimes colored) nuggets of wonderful that take baths to a whole new level. In my experience, each Bath Bomb I used left my skin feeling soft and lustrous, making me feel less guilty about stocking up on them- sure they were fun and most definitely entertaining, but they also were nourishing and soothing to my skin, that's a two for one right there.  There's a bath bomb for every mood, for times when you want a zing of orange to energize you for the day or those moments when you want the fragrance of rosemary to help you de-stress after a long day, no matter what Lush has you covered.

Out of all of the Bath Bombs I have tried, the Fizzbanger was by far my favorite. Infused with a concoction of Lush' essential oil blend, this bomb starts off with a scent of cinnamon and fresh apples and ends with an aroma of "cinnamon toffee", as said on the company's website, this bath bomb turns a nighttime soak into a deliciously sweet experience. On top of the wonderfully decadent scent, the colors of this product are AMAZING. The yellow outer shell melts away to reveal a bright blue core and the colors swirl together into a beautiful tie-dye pattern.

As the Bath Bomb continues to fizz,  rock candies embedded inside begin to pop, adding to the firework imagery the master crafters at Lush were going for. My favorite thing about Lush is that they think of EVERYTHING. Their products, especially the Bath Bombs create an entire experience for the user. I mean the Fizzbanger Bath Bomb leaves the customer a little present even after it dissolves away: the cutest little cartoon sign with an old fashion comic BANG! on it.

How could you not love that? Lush puts so much thought and dedication into each of their products, I would find it difficult to not absolutely love and admire all of them. I'm hoping to pick up some of Lush's Valentine's Day collection so if that wish comes true, you guys can absolutely expect a post on those lovely creations. Regardless, my Lush obsession is not stopping here. If there's anything specific anyone thinks I should try out, feel free to let me know.

A Look through the Peep Hole

Hi friends,
So I'm starting a blog...who saw this coming? Definitely not me. Anyway, welcome to my ramblings. I plan on keeping these posts as open as possible, so you can expect some beauty, fashion,, music, fitness, and food posts to be making appearances on this page.  I'm not too good with beginnings, so this post might be a little rough around the edges. Come to think of it, I'm not too keen on endings either, I just like the cream inside the cookie if you know what I mean...ANYWAY, I figured to start this blog off I'd do the most stereotypical post I possibly could  think of to get it out of the way, so welcome to fun facts about me YAAAAYY ( I know you're all just so excited).

PS- these are all pretty basic, I've got lots of stories and lots of time to tell them in future posts (pshh c'mon I can't give all my secrets away in the first one).

Let's get this show on the road shall we

  1. Hello again, my name is Christina (Steetz for short hence the title)
    ^that is me, I'm awkward I'm sorry D:
  2. I live in the glorious US of A in the spectacular state of New Jersey (please hold the orange tan and GTL jokes until the end).
  3. I am one of two kids, three if you count my dog (which is probably a good idea because she is definitely the most loved).
  4. I was raised on classic and punk rock (I brought a Green Day CD to show and tell in kindergarten, safe to say the teacher never saw that coming).
  5. I am a second semester senior in high school at the moment (so close but yet still so far to graduation and the mythical world of college).
  6. I have just begun to develop a fascination with beauty, makeup, and fashion (I'm a bit of a late bloomer so please bear with my mediocracy for the time being).
  7. I love to be active and try to exercise as much as possible (though my other favorite activity is to sit in bed and watch movies so this is a bit contradictory).
  8. I am a green tea addict (no joke I would probably bleed green tea).
  9. Sarcasm should be written as my resume as my second language (brace yourselves)
  10. I will geek out at random (I'm a math and science kid for life).
  11. I've done a bit of travelling (my mom loves to plan vacations) and hope to travel a bunch more as I get older
So that's about all I have at the moment, if anyone wants to know anything else (if there really is anyone reading this at all), go ahead and ask (no really please do). And yeah thanks a ton for reading and making this whole thing feel not so much like a failure.

Sincerely,

Steetz
